CAMBRIDGE BOWLING CLUB
& THE THORNTON CLUB
OUR CLUB HISTORY
The Cambridge Bowling Club is rich in history being established in 1898.
Although the club was formed in 1898 the pavilion was built later, in 1914 by local builder Fred Potts from plans by A B Herrold, and additions were made in 1938 and again throughout the 1970s, including the addition of a second green as the club's vibrant bowling membership grew.
The Club itself is of Edwardian design in a beautiful setting and cost £350.
In 2015 the Cambridge Club (Inc), a social Members Club, amalgamated with the Cambridge Bowling Club and began to trade as the Thornton Club.
You can read more about the Cambridge Bowling Club history on the Cambridge Museum Website.
